I Second That. Also include soul caliber, virtual fighter, fatal fury, king of fighters, eternal champions, killer instinct, and snk. I don't Really Care for those other games but put em on anyways!

SF > MK imo.
MK vs. DC really killed it for me.
The game just seemed really slow with a bunch of button mashing sequences resulting in someone taking tons of damage. Also, I didn't like that there were about 3 different movesets with just varying special moves.
SF is faster and more refined, it's more of a tournament type fighting game than a brawler.

the problems with SF and KoF and GG are the controls are so fucking intense. i can't figure that shit out. i tried. for hours.

yeah, I think that SC offers a nice in-between.
The characters reach is varied, there are very few projectile attacks, differing speeds between characters, and skillful combos... all with a rather small learning curve.

Ok. This was not a 'What is the best fighter" thread. This was purely a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat thread (btw that'd be an amazing game). If you want a best fighter thread, I'll make it.
